Beauregard Chiasson: A Rising Voice in Music, Film and Service
Beauregard Chiasson, known as Beau, is an American composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist, filmmaker and community leader from Los Angeles, California. His work connects classical music, jazz, Latin sounds, film, science and public service. He has written for professional orchestras, scored short films, led a band, studied cystic fibrosis research and supported young people through charitable projects.
His story joins creative ambition with service. Beau has performed on important stages, organised fundraisers, supported refugees, helped people with disabilities and taken part in youth government. A Composer Across Genres
Beauregard Chiasson’s music moves between concert composition, jazz, Latin styles and songs for live performance. His compositions have been performed by Brightwork newmusic, the USC Orchestra and professional musicians contracted by the Los Angeles Philharmonic. His work joins varied sounds with a strong interest in structure and storytelling.
One important early work is Portrait in Turquoise, a chamber or pierrot ensemble piece. It earned a perfect score and the Grand Prize in the senior category of the International Youth Music Competitions. He later won Gold Prizes for Original Composition in the 2025 Couperin and Max Bruch International Music Competitions. He was also a finalist in the 2026 ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer Awards and the Penn State Ballora-Wang Young Composer Competition.
October: A Band and Creative Community
In August 2023, Beauregard Chiasson became a founding member and band leader of October. He writes songs and arrangements, plays multiple instruments, organises gigs and manages the group’s social media account, which has gained more than 12,000 followers. October also supports his charity work through backyard fundraiser concerts for Teens at the Door and Special Camp.

Composer Fellowship Experience
From October 2024 to June 2026, Beau was a Composer Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellowship Programme. He studied under Andrew Norman, Thomas Kotcheff and Daniel Allas, wrote three pieces each year, attended concerts and developed work for professional performance and recording. The programme required about 150 hours each year.
In 2026, he served as the programme’s Sue Tsao Fellow Chair. He was commissioned to write a five-minute orchestral piece for the 2026 YOLA National Festival and the LA Phil residency at the Edinburgh International Festival. The work, On Becoming, was performed by Youth Orchestra Los Angeles in Edinburgh.
Awards and Professional Progress
Since May 2024, freelance composer Beau has composed and orchestrated original works for private clients. He uses Sibelius and Logic Pro, while study, independent projects and ensemble work have strengthened his foundation.
Film, Screenwriting and Visual Storytelling
A Broad Filmmaking Role
Beauregard Chiasson has worked in film production since 2020. He has scored eleven short films, served as first assistant director on three, produced two, directed one and edited eight. He has written four screenplays that became short films and has shot three films. This broad experience covers writing, directing, camera work, editing, sound and production planning.
His most recent film project, Moon Boy, was a semifinalist at the IndieX International Film Festival in Los Angeles. In 2025, he completed an introductory screenwriting course through UCLA Summer Sessions, strengthening the link between his music and storytelling.
Music That Supports a Story
Scoring a film requires attention to mood, timing and silence. Beau’s experience across eleven short films has helped him understand how music can add emotional depth without overpowering a scene.
Beauregard Chiasson Education at Geffen Academy at UCLA
Beauregard Chiasson graduated from Geffen Academy at UCLA in June 2026 after attending from 2019. He achieved a 4.0 unweighted grade point average and a 4.26 weighted average. His studies and tutoring covered mathematics, biology, chemistry, Spanish, history, music and English. He also worked as a peer tutor and admissions ambassador.
He served on the Student Council Policy Committee, chaired the National Honor Society, co-chaired the Library Council, co-founded the Vinyl Club and helped establish the Mental Health Council. He organised Banned Books Weeks, a book swap and a drive that donated more than 300 books to shelters. He also supported healthier lunches, a sustainable uniform provider and the return of overnight retreats.
His academic honours include National Merit Scholarship Commended Scholar recognition with a California composite score of 223, College Board National Recognition and University of California Educational Leadership Compact finalist status for placing in the top nine per cent of his graduating class. These honours complement his 4.0 record.
Athletics and School Leadership
Beau led the school jazz band, which met weekly and performed twice each year. He was also a varsity track and cross-country athlete, served as captain and held school records in the 200 metres, 400 metres, 800 metres and relay events. He received captain and Most Valuable Player awards and earned first- and second-team CIF Pacific Basin League honours.
These activities strengthened his ability to lead, perform under pressure and manage different commitments.
Harvard and New England Conservatory
A Dual Degree in Science and Music
In 2026, Beau began the Harvard University–New England Conservatory Dual Degree Programme. At Harvard, he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular and Cellular Biology. At the New England Conservatory, he is working towards a Master of Music in Composition under Dr Sid Richardson.
This combination reflects two long-standing interests. Molecular biology lets him study life through evidence and observation, while composition lets him explore feeling, design and imagination.
Research at UCLA
Before university, Beau volunteered with the UCLA Broad Stem Cell Research Center. Under Dr Brigitte Gomperts and Dr Tammy Rickabaugh, he studied submucosal glands connected with cystic fibrosis and completed a literature review on the common cold virus as a possible treatment vector. This work gave him laboratory and research experience.
Leadership, Civic Engagement and Community Work
Boys Nation and California Boys and Girls State
Beau represented California as a 2025 Boys Nation Senator. He was one of 100 senators and one of two representatives from California, chosen from 920 delegates at California Boys and Girls State. During the week-long programme in Washington, DC, he wrote and debated legislation, met national leaders and joined a model government.
He was elected presidential nominee for the Nationalist Party from 27 candidates and appointed Secretary of Education. Earlier in 2025, he had been elected Governor of California Boys and Girls State. He spoke to about 1,000 delegates, created a Whig Party campaign video, advocated educational reform and gender equality, and received an Outstanding Citizen Award.
Teens at the Door
From 2021 to 2026, Beau served as President of Teens at the Door, which connects American high school students with newly arrived refugee and immigrant teenagers. The organisation worked with the International Institute of Los Angeles, the International Rescue Committee and the Los Angeles County Office of Education, supporting more than 25 Afghan refugee teenagers.
Beau maintained partnerships and created video material for its website. His service reflects his belief that positive change begins when communities come before individual status.
Special Camp and Charity Concerts
Beauregard Chiasson has worked with Special Camp as a volunteer counsellor, staff assistant and Special Events Coordinator. The camp serves children and young adults with disabilities. His duties have included supporting camper-counsellor pairs, helping with daily care, organising vendors and managing family events.
Through Beau’s Place, sometimes called Beauchella, he produces an annual charity concert at home. The 2024 event raised 270 dollars for refugee teenagers through the International Institute of Los Angeles. The 2025 event raised 1,000 dollars for Special Camp, covering one camper’s full attendance cost. The 2026 event raised 13,000 dollars for Special Camp.
Additional Experience and Personal Influences
Beauregard Chiasson served as a Communication Officer on the Los Angeles Metro Youth Council in 2024. He met with Metro officials, promoted youth ridership and supported GoPass expansion for refugees. He also worked as a student election worker during the 2024 presidential primary and performed as a drummer in Ava August’s music video The End.
He was one of ten young composers chosen for the Project Beacon High School Composer Initiative. Mentored by Nina Shekhar and Brightwork newmusic, he created an original work performed at Boston Court Pasadena. He has also designed websites for clients.
His musical influences include George Gershwin, Julius Eastman, Celia Cruz, Tania León, Gabriela Lena Frank, Gabriella Smith, Charles Mingus, Chick Corea and Kenny Garrett. These influences span orchestral writing, jazz, Cuban music and modern composition.
